A weekly newsletter for Black and Brown women highlighting entrepreneurship and venture capital in the tech ecosystem.

For Colored Girls Who Tech is a curated weekly newsletter that aims to bring greater visibility to the content and resources which will help us do business and grow our businesses. Our goal is to build a centralized and highly engaged and active community, online and offline, by sharing pertinent news, insights, funding opportunities, new startups, and events.

Where does the title of your newsletter come from?

I was inspired by Ntozake Shange, the acclaimed Black Feminist, playwright and poet who penned the play  For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf. If you don’t know this piece, her most famous work, I encourage you to go out today and read this 20-part choreopoem which combines poetry, song, music and dance. In fact, the 1976 Broadway production was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play.

Ntozake Shange was known for her portrayals of race and Black power throughout her work, and I hope to do the same in this newsletter. As one of her characters shouts, “i will raise my voice / & scream & holler / & break things & race the engine / & tell all yr secrets bout yrself to yr face.”
